Rules and Regulations – Wide Angle Category

1. All divers must participate through a dive center.
2. Any divers not affiliated with a dive center will be allocated a dive center by the municipality.
3. All divers must be qualified and must provide their qualification no later than the competition date.
4. All divers must use a dive computer.
5. Divers must act in accordance with the briefing provided before the dive and clarify any unclear issues during this briefing. Divers must comply with the rules and instructions of the boat operator on the transfer boat and act according to their directions.
6. Divers must not exceed the depth they are certified to dive. The maximum depth for the competition is 30m, dive time must not exceed 30mins to the safety stop. A 3minute safety stop at 5 meters is mandatory. Divers must strictly adhere to a dive profile that does not require a deco stop.
7. Divers must submit an empty memory card to officials for inspection before the dive. Once the camera is prepared and the memory card is loaded, the housing or memory card port must not be re-opened. In the event the housing must be opened, it must be done in the presence of an official. The memory card must be presented to an official after the diver has returned to the dive center for a further inspection.
8. Alteration of photos without deviating from their essence is permitted.
9. Divers competing in two categories must send their photographs by email under two separate categories.
10. Contestants must send a maximum of 3 selected photographs for the competition within 72 hours to: [email protected].
11. The copyright of the photographs nominated in the competition will belong to Kyrenia Municipality.
12. Sign a document confirming that you have read and understood the safe diving rules.

Grounds for Disqualification

1. Any breaches in the above rules will result in disqualification.
2. Failure to comply with safe diving practices, including but not limited to maintaining close proximity to the assigned dive buddy and ensuring effective communication throughout the dive.
3. Exceeding certification or competition dive limits, including:

* Diving beyond the maximum depth permitted by the participant’s certification level.

* Exceeding the competition limit of 30 minutes bottom time (measured until the start of the safety stop).

* For advanced-level divers, exceeding 30 metres maximum depth or 30 minutes bottom time (measured until the start of the safety stop).

4. Conducting a dive that requires mandatory decompression stops. All competition dives must remain within no-decompression limits.
5. Failure to complete a minimum three (3) minute safety stop at the appropriate depth at the conclusion of the dive.
6. Surfacing for the safety stop with less than 50 BAR (or equivalent) of remaining breathing gas.
7. Failure to follow the instructions of the boat captain, dive marshal, or authorised competition officials at any stage of the event.
8. Breaching the image handling procedures, including opening the camera outside the prescribed sequence, opening the camera without the presence of competition officials, failing to surrender the memory card when requested, or failing to transfer the images as instructed.
9. Failure to submit photographs within the required timeframe. After the memory card has been returned or the images have been transferred, participants must submit their three (3) nominated competition photographs to the competition officials within 72 hours. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.
