Competition Rules and Regulations – Open Category

1. The competition is open to all photographers and certified divers.
2. Submitted photographs must have been taken within the territorial waters of Cyprus.
3. All photographs must have been taken between 1 January 2026 and 31 August 2026.
4. Participants must be the sole creator and copyright holder of all submitted photographs.
5. Participants must retain the original image files and metadata (EXIF data) for all submitted photographs.
6. Organizers may request original image files, RAW files, dive logs, GPS records, or other supporting evidence to verify the date and location of the photographs.
7. Basic post-processing is permitted, including adjustments to exposure, contrast, colour balance, sharpness, cropping, and noise reduction, provided the original content and integrity of the image are not altered.
8. Photographs that have been digitally manipulated in a manner that adds, removes, or substantially alters subjects or elements of the image are not permitted.
9. Participants may submit a maximum of three (3) photographs for consideration in each categories.
10. Photographs submitted to this category must depict underwater subjects, marine life, underwater landscapes, wrecks, or other underwater scenes photographed within Cyprus waters.
11. Participants entering multiple competition categories must submit their photographs separately for each category.
12. Contestants must send their selected photographs no later than 72 hours before the announced closing date, or by the deadline published by the organizers, to:

13. By entering the competition, participants grant Kyrenia Municipality the right to use submitted photographs for promotional, exhibition, educational, and publicity purposes, with photographer credit whenever reasonably possible.
14. The copyright of prize-winning and officially nominated photographs shall belong to Kyrenia Municipality.

Grounds for Disqualification

1. Any breaches in the above rules will result in disqualification.
2. Submission of photographs taken outside the waters of Cyprus.
3. Submission of photographs taken outside the period of 1 January 2026 – 31 August 2026.
4. Failure to provide original image files, RAW files, or other supporting evidence when requested by the organizers.
5. Removal, alteration, or falsification of image metadata (EXIF data).
6. Submission of photographs that were created, generated, or substantially altered using artificial intelligence (AI).
7. Submission of photographs that contain added, removed, or artificially manipulated elements that misrepresent the original scene.
8. Submission of photographs belonging to another person or photographs for which the participant does not own the rights.
9. Failure to submit the nominated photographs by the stated deadline.
10. Providing false or misleading information regarding the location, date, or circumstances under which the photograph was taken.
